On Friday 14th August at 5:09 am a team of six swimmers swam from Shakespeare’s beach in Dover, England with the epic challenge of swimming all the way to France.
A tremendous team effort. The weather was bleak, and the jellyfish were out in their swarms, but the sea was glassy, and they flew across.

These fantastic 6 – The SwimTayka Six – took on the channel on Friday 14th August. They left Shakespeare’s beach, Dover and heading for France swimming as a relay team under the watchful gaze of the super experienced Pilot, Eddie Spelling.

They loved the swim, they hated it, they fought their demons, and they overcome them, and they battled on for 12 hours and 26 minutes until they achieve something, that a while ago, they never thought was possible.
It is a fantastic achievement for them individually, as well as being part of a team effort.
Here at SwimTayka, we are incredibly grateful to them as it is their hard work and fundraising that will enable us to teach children around the world the drowning prevention skills that will save their lives and those of their families.
