SwimTayka is delighted to announce its partnership and involvement with the 2023 Thames Marathon, the Henley Swim event to take place on 13th August.
The Thames Marathon is a sell-out event of great past success – a 13km swim challenge that spans from Henley-on-Thames to Marlow. With this new partnership, we are excited to raise vital funds imperative to providing life-changing lessons on drowning prevention and environmental stewardship to underprivileged children living in deprived waterside communities across the world, all the while raising awareness for a cause that deserves to be recognised.
Our founder, Bryan Avery, explains how your participation could change lives: “Drowning is a silent epidemic that claims an estimated 360,000 lives a year, many of them children. Whilst we enjoy the joys of water, we can help others master it so saving lives. During this global pandemic our work has never been more important as people gain respite in open water with sadly not always the skills and safety knowledge they require. We are passionate about drowning prevention and we hope that these incredible swimmers taking on the Thames Marathon will support the cause.”
This swim can be taken on in skins or wetsuits, with limited places available in skins. Make it your personal solo mission or take part as part of a team, swimming alongside your friends. With participants having the option of selecting 1 of 10 waves, each setting off at 5-minute intervals. Are you ready to play your part in bringing life-saving lessons to children across the world and take that splash?
The partnership offers swimmers two ways to raise money for the charity:
FREE CHARITY PLACES: Swimmers can sign up for a FREE charity place and pledge to fundraise £400 for a full marathon swim or £200 for a half marathon swim. Each charity place swimmer will receive a fundraising pack and lots more support.
YOUR OWN PLACE: Purchase a swim place and use this chance to fundraise for the charity, email fundraising@SwimTayka.org.
Sign up now for the Thames Marathon on Sunday 13th August 2022 before the event sells out. Every year the events fills capacity with a long waiting list of swimmers hoping to take on the epic swim
