The English Channel conquered

On Friday 14th August at 5:09 am a team of six swimmers swam from Shakespeare’s beach in Dover, England with the epic challenge of swimming all the way to France.

A tremendous team effort. The weather was bleak, and the jellyfish were out in their swarms, but the sea was glassy, and they flew across.

Rose just 11-years old takes on the English Channel

Rose Miles (a keen 11-year-old swimmer) has decided to swim the length of the channel this summer to raise money for SwimTayka. She has set up a TotalGiving page and set herself a target of £750.

Swimming for almost 19 hours

Lucy set off from Shakespeare Beach at 3:47 am on Sunday morning to begin her epic journey to swim solo across the English Channel, one of the first people post COVID-19.

Meet Lucy

Meet Lucy who is swimming the channel on Friday and raising money for us. She lives in Surrey with her husband, son, two cats and Storm the dog (he’s in the pic!!).

She has always loved the water but came to swim seriously, more recently in life. When her son starting swimming lessons as a baby, she decided to qualify as a Swimming Teacher, and to so began her career change.

Clean Beach Week

Did you know we are not just about teaching children to swim? We also spend much of our time teaching them about their local environment through clean water education. You could say that we are nurturing a generation of world citizens who will act as environmental stewards who love, care for and respect the life-giving rivers, lake and oceans along which they live.
