SwimTayka is the perfect fusion of my two passions; swimming and environmental conservation. I see teaching swimming and improving people’s environments as powerful catalysts of confidence and hope so I was naturally drawn to SwimTayka.
I’m a qualified swimming teacher and tutor of aquatic teaching qualifications. I love teaching swimming and I’m passionate about the water is a place that is fun, inclusive and safe for everyone, for me that’s been enjoying open water swimming.
I’m also a qualified science teacher with a background as an environmental consultant and chartered waste manager. In 2000 I was part of a life-changing wildlife conservation project in Kenya and have continued to engage in various environmental projects in the UK and across East Africa ever since. I have been involved with environmental strategy and consultation for various organisations internationally, including as keynote speaker at a conference for poverty alleviation through solid waste management entrepreneurship. In Tanzania, I’ve seen first-hand the benefits (and challenges) that come with improving coastal environments through beach clean-up initiatives and community involvement. I’m therefore excited to be supporting the work and vision of SwimTayka.
